Torchy’s Tacos Crowns Winner of ‘Name Your Own Damn Taco’ Contest as September’s Taco of the Month! 

After an overwhelming response to our inaugural “Name Your Own Damn Taco Contest,” Torchy’s Tacos is excited to announce the winning taco name, which will grace our menu this September as our national Taco of the Month! 

Early this summer, our CEO, Mike Rypka, threw down the gauntlet, challenging Torchy’s fans to put their creativity to the test. For the first time in Torchy’s history, the company opened its doors to outside creativity, inviting someone outside of the organization to christen an official taco. 

The result? An astounding 3,200 imaginative entries. Stationed at Torchy’s World Headquarters in Austin, the selection team was inundated with a spectrum of suggestions, ranging from unoriginal to downright audacious. 

Out of the sea of entries, one name from Cadie Kelly, a dedicated Torchy’s enthusiast hailing from Tyler, Texas, distinguished itself. When informed of her win, Cadie had one pressing question: “Can I tell my husband?!” Don’t worry, we gave her the green light! 

Her compelling submission now marks a mouth-watering addition to the Torchy’s menu: THE HOGFATHER. This uniquely christened taco will tempt taste buds across the nation as September’s Taco of the Month. 

The Hogfather features Green Chile Pork layered with Teriyaki sauce, Corn Relish, Bacon, Crispy Onions, and topped with our signature Cilantro, Cotija, and fan-favorite Diablo Sauce, all wrapped in a house-made flour tortilla. 

To Cadie and all the participants, we extend a hearty thanks. It’s the passion and enthusiasm of our fans that continue to fuel the Torchy’s spirit, and we are forever grateful.
