Austin, Texas – Oct. 1, 2020 – To encourage taco enthusiasts to show their support for the tastiest ticket in town, Torchy’s Tacos is launching a “Tacos/Queso 2020” campaign by bringing back The Washingtonian for the October Taco of the Month and offering election-themed merchandise that celebrates Damn Good food. Limited-edition T-shirts, bumper stickers, and more are available now at torchysmerch.com, and through election day, guests will receive a Tacos/Queso 2020 campaign button free with the purchase of The Washingtonian while supplies last.
The Washingtonian features delectable flavors like smoked pulled pork, grilled onions, jack cheese, pickles, sour cream and fresh avocado with chipotle BBQ sauce, all served on a flour tortilla for $5.75. Its name is a nod to Torchy’s Tacos founder, Mike Rypka, and his roots growing up just outside of Washington, D.C.
Torchy’s is no stranger to politically inspired tacos – The Washingtonian complements the popular Democrat and Republican Tacos that fans clamor for year-round.
“Tacos/Queso 2020 is a campaign I think everyone can get behind, and we can’t wait to bring back the Washingtonian, a taco that fans have said is so good, we should make a national monument in its honor!” said Mike Rypka, founder of Torchy’s Tacos. “We encourage our Taco Junkies to not only cast their vote on Election Day, but also to come in and vote for their favorite taco candidate at Torchy’s.”
Taco junkies can enjoy the Taco of the Month with an order of signature Green Chile Queso, scratch-made Guacamole, and fresh sides like beans and rice. Make it the perfect pairing with New Belgium Brewing’s Voodoo Ranger American Haze IPA and safely dine-in at Torchy’s, or order convenient takeout or curbside pickup with the option to order and pay-ahead at Torchys.com or through contactless delivery on DoorDash.*
The Washingtonian is available Oct. 1 through Nov. 3 at participating Torchy’s Tacos locations. Portions of the proceeds from all Taco of the Month sales go to Torchy’s charitable partners.
