South Austin Trailer Park buzz:

  • foodifotos blog ~ "best pork taco I've ever had."
  • Yelp.com ~ "best veggie burger I've ever had anywhere"; "I cannot deny Shuggie's 5 stars. The fries are just that awesome"

Austin Daze issue #65:

..."Torchy's Damn Good Tacos", a new South Austin stop on the trailer vittle trail, an anomaly in this weird corporate day and age we exist, but a little fist thrust in the air for quality, originality and personality, all things we need to sustain any quality of life and sense of community and self on this spinning chunk of carbon upon which we exist. Let it be known, far and wide, Magnus says, "Come one, come all, to Torchy's Damn Good Tacos! Your horizons will be forever expanded, your taste buds dazzled, your pangs sated. Uh-huh."

Chile Pepper magazine (June 2007):
My first fried avocado taco was not a mistake. Nor was the green chile pork taco, nor the Ranch Hand steak-and-eggs taco. In fact, my entire early morning visit to Torchy's was an unqualified success, from strong coffee to bitingly hot green and red salsas.

Jewell Publication ~ Where to Shop Locally (Spring '07).
Where is your staple lunch spot during a business day?
I'm hooked on Torchy's on South 1st St. It's the little trailer in the big parking lot that one might at first question. Question no more - the pulled pork tacos are amazing.

Torchy's Tacos provides gourmet grub in a taco stand setting. Breakfast tacos are available all day, or try the fried avocado veggie taco or the "trailer park" taco, which pairs fried chicken with traditional fixins.

Torchy's Tasty Trailer Tacos
You can get almost any kind of cuisine from a trailer in this town: smoothies, crepes, snow cones and, of course, tacos. But perhaps none is more impressive than the variety of tortilla-wrapped treats from Torchy's. It's hard to imagine a menu that includes barbacoa, slow-roasted carnitas and sausage-on top of the traditional trailer taco fare-can be served fresh from a space the size of some SUVs. Any of the seven specialty tacos is a delight, but the green chile pork taco is truly special. The rich flavor of the tender pork is deepened by hours of roasting with Hatch green chiles, then brightened with onion, cilantro and a lime wedge on a corn tortilla. Another solid choice is the house specialty trailer park, fried chicken tenders topped with green chiles and the standard veggies, and served with a tasty poblano-ranch sauce. (Order it "trashy", and they'll drop the lettuce and smother it with queso). Vegetarians get their due as well, with the decadent fried avocado taco wrapped in a homemade flour tortilla. There's something to get everyone's taste buds moving.
