We had such a blast at XGames Austin! Over 160,000 fans stormed downtown Austin and the Circuit of the Americas June 5-8, 2014 for four days of skateboarding, BMX, Moto X and four-wheeled competitions, plus plenty of music, food, and booze. Naturally, the weekend saw many records set, including Jimmy Wilkins as the youngest gold medalist in vert skateboarding history, women’s Enduro X rider Kacy Martinez winning her first ever gold medal, and Nyjah Huston going down as the street skateboarder with the most gold medals in X Games history (9).
In a very Austin-esque way to start things off, world-class BMX and Skateboard Vert athletes battled it out Thursday evening on a 60-foot-wide Vert ramp – set against the stunning backdrop of the Texas State Capitol. Over the next three days Kanye West serenaded us from atop foam mountains, The Flaming Lips took us to another planet, and we fired off 168 t-shirts and 84 taco coupons into the crowd from our high-powered 14-barrel gatling gun, the Torchy’s Tacos Cannon.
And the most delicious part of this high-powered festival de extreme? Three days of FREE QUESO! At around 80,000 units served per day, that’s a lotta cheese.
Thanks to everyone who came by & chowed on some spicy cheese, tried the bungee jump, got airbrush tattoos, or ran the obstacle course. We were so excited to be supporting the XGames for the first time, and we can’t wait to see y’all in 2015. Gonna be hot!
