Damn Good Giving: Capital Area Food Bank

It’s damn good to give back. This season, some folks from Torchy’s HQ came together for a lil’ giving time. Hunger affects people from all walks of life, all year long, not just at the holidays.

Capital Area Food Bank is at the front line of hunger relief with the help of nearly 300 Partner Agencies in 21 counties across Central Texas.  Working families, retired seniors on fixed incomes, grandparents with custody of grandchildren, the chronically ill and the disabled all turn to the Food Bank for help in emergencies or as part of their regular meal planning. Capital Area Food Bank works with the community to ensure all these people get the nutritious food they need, while working to educate the community and dispel myths about hunger around us.

In just a few hours we (along with other fantastic volunteers from the Austin community) sorted over 5,000 pounds of food, or enough for 4,725 meals for hungry Central Texans. Those results felt damn good, and it was a blast working with Capital Area Food Bank staff. Seriously, these folks are super dedicated and they go out of their way to make sure volunteers have fun!

Big thanks to those from the Torchy’s Family who came out to volunteer. Learn more about Torchy’s community commitments, and how YOU can help out at Capital Area Food Bank.
