When did Torchy’s start?
We fired up our original taco trailer in 2006.
Is Torchy’s a franchise?
Hell no! All Torchy’s hot spots are owned an operated by the founder, Mike Rypka, and his esteemed partners, Fonz, Jay, Farrell, and Rebecca.
Will you ever franchise?
As they say “never say never.”
Are you ever gonna put a Torchy’s in my neck of the woods?
Ya’ never know when the fire’s gonna spread your way. Click on the map to the right & submit your dream location to the taco gods.
What’s with the devil theme – Are you guys devil worshipers?
No way in Hades! We may be a little devilish at times, but that’s just because we like things hot, edgy, and full of spice! For full disclosure, we do not provide support for any religious groups or organizations for religious purposes.
Why “Damn Good”?
We like things trashy, but in this instance, talk is not cheap. Our slogan was created by the thing that we love most – our customers. “Damn Good” is an homage to the rallying cry hollered outside of our first mobile food truck on the streets of Austin, TX in 2006. We’re not lacking class, we’re just honoring a legacy.
Why do you have a taco called the “Dirty Sanchez?” Don’t you know what that is!?
Get your mind out of the gutter! The Sanchez, just like our Monk Special, was named during humble beginnings and after true happenings.
Here’s the story:
When bad reps get around, boy do they stick. So the story is with the Dirty Sanchez, named after Jose “Dirty” Sanchez himself. To some, he was a bit of a grimy, trouble-makin’ fella, but to others, he was the king of breakfast cookin’. The Sanchez was his masterpiece- a heavyweight contender that combined lunch with breakfast taste. Nevertheless, the best scrambled eggs in town were never enough to offset Dirty’s filthy, scheming behavior. And so, the Dirty Sanchez will live on as a testament to the best- and the worst- of Senor Jose Sanchez.
